José Rómulo Sosa Ortiz, real name of the artist, died on September 28 at the age of 71 in Miami, Florida. The National Association of Interpreters of Mexico confirmed the death of the singer in his Twitter account without specifying the causes.

His death occurs in the midst of family quarrels that kept him away from his eldest children, Marisol and José Sosa, who had recently spoken with various media about an alleged kidnapping under which the singer was already sick, under the Guardianship of his youngest daughter, Sarita.
Upon hearing the news, Mexican President Andrés Manuel López Obrador described the death as "very unfortunate" and stressed that he was "an extraordinary singer." In addition, he added that the "best tribute is to remember and keep listening."
